Salutations, Soul Campaign!

It's hard to believe that this will be the last Monthly Mod Post. (There will be one more at the very end but that's something else.) Thank you for sticking with us until the very end. It's been a blast.

Now! Onto business.

1. Arsonist in Death City

This particular player plot will be wrapping up this month! More information will be made available by the players later.

2. August Plot: The Snake in Asia

The last plot of Soul Campaign will take place in Asia where Medusa is suspected to be hiding. However, she's not the only problem there. Mongolia's been withdrawing from the world stage and, sometime soon, all communications with it will cut off entirely.

Just what is going on...?

This month's calender is here.

Salutations, Soul Campaign!

I will try to keep this post short and sweet because I still have school tomorrow (and no one wants to listen to me go on and on and on, anyway.)

1. Activity Check...

Is still gone. Technically, this would be the last month for AC anyway so by now there isn't much point. The Love Meme will go up over the weekend, hopefully!

2. July Plot: The Day the Earth Shook

You've probably seen an article or two about strange seismic activity...very soon it will be coming to Death City. There's more, however, because it seems there's a trend of Kishin Eggs gathering around the locations where these tremors happen.

What does that mean? You'll find out this month! An event post will be going up tomorrow.

Also, just a heads up, there is something slated to happen on the 25th, but it will not interfere with morning training!

This month's calender is here.

Salutations, Soul Campaign!

For some reason your headmod mistakenly thought today was the 8th, only when I actually went to add dates to the calendar did I realize that it's actually the 10th. I apologize profusely for this post being so late because of that! (Please don't stone me.)

That being said, there are a few things to bring up!

1. Activity Check

Earlier in the month, we mentioned that Activity Check will no longer be happening, however some players brought up concerns about what it would do to activity in the game so we're bringing it to the mod post to hear what you think!

Before that, here are some of the points brought up:

- No Activity Check may make the game even slower
- No Activity Check may lead to people handwaving more instead of logging things out
- If Activity Check comes back it can be half activity to reflect the speed of the game

- There is actually only one Activity Check left even if we bring it back at this point
- Having recently lost a mod, getting rid of activity check was a way of lightening mod work load
- More people are taking strikes than ever before which contributed to the decision to get rid of AC in the first place

2. App Reminders

Just a quick reminder that June is the last month where you can re-app an old character! Apps are processed June 15th and June 25th!

3. June Plot: Terror in Death City

So, remember a while back when a guest by the name of Diablo went berserk and started spreading his Terror Wavelength around like nobody's business? Yeah, that guy. Some witches took him out of the city in order to study his powers...and now they're ready to test the results of their experiements out on Death City.

There will be an event post up right after this, so stay tuned for that!

This month's calendar can be found here.

Hey, Soul Campaigners! First: yes, this mod post is early this month. Because this month's plot is going to kick start early so we wanted to make sure you'll all have ample time to prepare.

1: Apps Closing in May for New Characters

Just a reminder that May is the last month where we'll be accepting new characters. Just a quick reminder that there are two app cycles in May, one on the 10th and another on the 25th.

2: Trouble in Japan

There are two parts to May's plot. First, as you've no doubt seen in day change news reports there have been...problems in Japan. That part of the endgame plot will come to a head in May, beginning with a post from a player character followed by a brief training arc, and the first major boss fight leading up to endgame.

More information will be made available later on in the week.

3: Arson in Death City

Towards the end of May there will be some strange happenings going on. Illegal strange happenings. The kind involving fire. This will be more of a background plot that will be further developed in the future. So stay tuned for that!

Feel free to bring up any questions you may have in this post!

This month's calendar can be found here. And no, it doesn't link to the Excalibur song this time. It's safe.

Salutations, Soul Campaign!

Somehow I managed to type this whole thing up and then forgot to hit post...I apologize, I was really exhausted last night. orz

Anyway, onto business!

1. Apps Closing

As we move ever closer to endgame, apps for Soul Campaign will be closing soon!

Apps for new characters will be cut off after May. Which means the last app cycle that will accept apps for new characters will be May 25th after which we will no longer accept apps for new characters!

Apps for returning characters will be cut off after June. This means the last app cycle that will accept apps for returning characters will be June 25th after which we will no longer accept any apps for Soul Campaign.

2. Increased Mission Rewards

Some of you mission goers might have noticed that lately there have been an increase in soul rewards receive for regular missions!

With endgame coming up, we thought we'd try to make it a bit easier for characters to gain levels, so every successful mission will be awarded and additional 2 souls/meister points on top of whatever rewards you would have gotten for the mission. Which means that if you were going to recieve 3 souls/points, you will now receive 5. Event mission rewards have already been scaled to represent this change as well.

3. April's Plot

Most of you saw the news report about how people have returned to the cities evacuated due to Black Blood. Unfortunately, it's not going to be the happy ending everyone wanted as the city will, once again, come under attack.

It will be Clowns again but this time there is something else in addition to that. Plus, the Clowns will be a bit different and also more dangerous. The event will take place over two IC days, from IC September 1st to 2nd.

More information will be made available later in the week!

Once again, this month's calendar can be found here. And I solemnly swear this link doesn't lead to a ten hour version of Excalibur's song this time. ;3

Salutations, Soul Campaign!

Starting this month until endgame, monthly mod posts will happen on the first of every month along with AC. This month's plot is a bit complicated so we thought it would be better to put it behind a cut.

Salutations, Soul Campaigners! It's now March and every day we are, ah, marching, ever closer toward's Soul Campaign's endgame. So for this month's mod post, we will briefly outline the plot lines that will be happening during endgame so that, if you choose, you can contact a mod if you want to jump into it somehow. We will also cover this month's plot too!

1. March Plot

This month's plot will give you a break from Clowns as a different group of Witches have their eyes on Death City. There will be an attack on the city on March 14 (IC August 23). More information will be made available on the day change of March 11, after the first app cycle of this month.

The attack will be the start of an approved player plot.

2. 2014 at a Glance

Right now, tentatively, SC's endgame will be happening in August (give or take a couple of weeks).

In this time there are a few plot lines that will be resolved and tied them together. And here they are (in no particular order):

- 2 player plots. One that will end with arson and another with another player character turned Kishin.
- The return of Kishin Asura who has been hiding somewhere dark and hot along with the return of a face no one expected to see...
- All the hubbub in East Asia is actually being caused by two mod plots. One involves murders in Japan that will be reported in a day change article this month and involves another Kishin. The Second plot involves Witches, naturally...and a lot of political instability.

Once again, this month's calendar can be found here.

Salutations, Soul Campaign!

There actually isn't much to talk about this month. But all the same here are the few things that needs to be covered.

1. February Investigation Plot

This Month's plot actually has two parts. The first part, which is the investigation is already up and the results of this investigation will unlock the second part of the event which will be a raid on Hachi's abandoned lab. This will happen ICly on August 16 (February 18th OOCly).

More information will be made available before then. For now, here is the mod calendar for those of you who want to see how this month will be organized.

2. Player Plots

We're happy to announce that there are currently two player suggested plots scheduled into the event schedule do this year! I won't spoil them since they're both a bit further away though I'm sure a few of you have heard about them already.

Currently, there is a tentative timeline of events set up for 2014 but there is still room yet to stick a few more plots in so if there's anything you've ever wanted to see happen in SC please come to us with it ASAP so I can try to fit your idea in!

Salutations, Soul Campaign! Here are some brief announcements:

1. Soul Resonance Attack Requests

So, there were a few things we said we'll be doing OOCly in last month's mod post! Most of it is still in the works, but the Soul Resonance Attack Request page has gone live! From now own, please reply to this post to request a Soul Resonance Attack.

For those of you who have already had their Soul Resonance Attack approved, please post to the entry and plug all the relevant information into the form provided!

2. Monthly Mod Posts

From now on, Monthly Mod posts will happen on the 8th of every month. And I swear the next one won't be so late...

3. Mod Plurk

We will be trying to revive the Mod Plurk! Feel free to follow it for news about the game!

Also, a quick reminder of what's going on this month! After this there is still AC Follow Up as well as an event post! So keep your eyes peeled for that!

Salutations Soul Campaign!

I know it isn't quite the beginning of the month anymore but we wanted to get everything sorted out before I said anything. Anyway, enough of my excuses here's what's coming up this month!

1. Small OOC Changes

These won't affect any characters ICly, but we're taking some time during this month to implement some stuff from the Feedback post as well as doing a bit of housekeeping!

Here's what we're up to:
1 - We will be creating a new section that will include a form, examples and guidelines for creating and submitting Soul Resonance Attack Requests
2 - The Mission Rules Page will be getting a makeover though the rules themselves will not change. This is mostly just because that page is quite big and I want to see if I can streamline it.
3 - More information about Weapon/Meister growth in the FAQ!
4 - The format of the Player Plot Proposal Page will also see a change in order to make it more interactive and hopefully easier to use. The plan is to create a format that will help facilitate the creation of more player plots like the TYL plot of old and just make more interesting events in overall!

And maybe one or two more small things will require some tweaking. These are our main goals though!

2. Mod Team Change (Again)

As of this month, Picaro, who has been a helper mod since the last time this game asked for new mods, will be stepping down and...well, stop being a part of the mod team. The Mod Contact Page will be updated to reflect this.

3. The Next Event

The next event will be something a little more light-hearted and actually, we'll be using a suggestion that we got on the Feedback post last month! It will involve a Meister/Weapon Designation swap as well as bring in things from canon worlds. The logistics are still being worked out and you will hear more about this soon!

Hello, Soul Campaigners!

Firstly, on the OOC front...

1: A small change has been made to the hiatus rules.

As of today, within a span of four months, you can only use a hiatus in lieu of activity for two of those months.

What this means is that if you call hiatus one month, then call hiatus again the next month, then you have to pass normally for the next two months.

If you pass through hiatus, pass AC the next month, then hiatus again the month after that, then you need to pass the month after that! So on and so forth.

As with everything, if there is any kind of emergency or reason why you have to call hiatus, please contact one of the mods ASAP.

2: Feedback Post!

Now that our new players have had time to settle down and our new mod team has had some time to get things organized, we'll be holding another feedback post! This will be put up later.

On the IC front: September plot!

On the evening of the next day change, a sandstorm will begin to brew. Those of you who were around back then might remember another sandstorm that sent the people of the city to hide in Shibusen, unfortunately, this time the sandstorm is bigger and will force the city to be evacuated for a short period of time. The storm begins on the evening of June 29th, and worsens until a temporary evacuation through Shibusen's mirror is called on in-game July 2nd, during which characters will be staying in a shelter outside of the city.

Don't worry, the storm will dissipate by the day change of July 4th! It's not like there's an organization who might take this chance to let something into the city they're not supposed to. Perish the thought.

Newbies will be coming in as usual this month, but instead of an intro log, some brave volunteers will be going in to pull them out. Which is to say, everything will go on as planned this month on the app and intro log front! More information about the plot will be made available later on, for now, please note that characters will not be able to take missions for July 2nd to July 4th due to the plot.

Here is the Calender for September!

This is a short note to let everybody know that the player of Beyond Birthday ([personal profile] darkestshadeofyou) has been banned from Soul Campaign as of today. The reason for this action is that they actively tried to circumvent the fact that they have been already banned from SC once by apping in with a new identity.

Doing this fills us with no joy and we sincerely encourage anybody who might ever find themselves in a similar situation to first ask the new mod team if an old ban still counts before you attempt to return to a game .

Feel free to pm us or email us (soul.campaign@gmail.com) if there are any questions or concerns regarding this matter left open.

Salutations, Soul Campaign! Here is your monthly mod post!

There are a couple of changes we are implementing this month as well as some plot related things we want to update you on.

1. We have a Test Drive Meme Again!

...which apparently is not such a surprise for some of you.

During the Feedback Post we put up before, some players mentioned wanting a Test Drive Meme. After gauging the level of interest we decided to go ahead with it!

The IC Test Drive Meme is here.

The OOC Test Drive Meme (for questions, OOC discussions and the like) is here.

These will cover the next three app cycles after which we will put up fresh new Test Drive Memes with shiny new prompts. Both are linked on the Reserves and Application pages.

2. Bi-Monthly Events!

After some discussion, the current mod team has decided to test out holding events on a bi-monthly basis.

What this means is that every other month, there will be a mod run event of some kind while players will have a month or so to do their own thing without worrying that plot might get in the way.

That being said, events aren't always going to start at the same time every other month (because we don't want characters to be able to guess when shit is going to hit the fan ICly). Sometimes, if the event is a big one, it might bleed into the previous month a little. This mostly just a guideline so that both the player-base will have a general idea of when to expect things to happen and the mod team have an idea of how to pace events.

What this means, right now, is that the bulk of the next event is planned for July. (And I say 'the bulk of' because this is one of those events that will likely start closer to the end of June.)

3. The Erinyes Plot!

The Erinyes Plot, originally created as a sort of mini-plot meant only to introduce an enemy that was neither Witch nor Kishin Egg is going to become a small sub-plot that will continue on in the background for now. They are not as big of a threat as the Witches, but they're an insidious group that, as your characters know, won't hesitate to take advantage of a large scale mission taking most of Shibusen's fighting force overseas.

In addition to the threat of Witches and Kishin Eggs, characters will need to worry about attacks on the home-front next time...

(Of course, they might just show their faces even earlier than that. They do have a way to get in touch with Shibusen's so-called "Guests" without needing to show up in person, after all...)

Once again, if there are any questions and concerns, feel free to ask in this post, on the mod contact post or through the mod e-mail: soul.campaign@gmail.com

Hey there, new folks! Welcome again to Soul Campaign!

As you guys get acclimated (or harassed by Excalibur in the Intro Log, sorry Kratos), we the mods would like to bring you up to speed on something happening in the next day change going up tomorrow!

First off, there's been a call to arms for all ready and able Meisters and Weapons to head out on a three-star mission. Azusa is available to answer your character's questions involving kishin eggs and witches, but would likely not recommend you head out until you've begun to get a good feel for your new powers.

As for the rest of you, we're leaving the mission sign-ups open for a few more hours, so don't forget to partner up and sign up here! The information and planning post is right here, for your convenience. Fighters will be out for most of the day, until the evacuation ends in success. Show the new guys how it's done!

As for you new guys who are itching for a fight, you've got one!

While the fighters are out in Central America, local thugs are taking advantage of the fact that the main forces are gone, and will be attacking the residential districts. What a welcome, huh? Those guys are jerks. Though you just came in, that doesn't mean you can't give them a good kicking and a chase! Show 'em your stuff! But you're not alone... some folks are staying home tomorrow, and will be right behind you in defense of the districts! Don't be shy- they don't bite. Much. But watch out for that ninja nurse...

Want to give your character a little more time to acclimate? That's perfectly okay! If you'd like to assume your character's room stays untouched during the attack, that's just fine.

Last but not least, a heads up for everyone: The CR Meme, our bi-monthly 'come play with me/let's plot stuff' meme, will be going up on Saturday! Keep your eyes peeled.

If you have any questions, feel free to ask them here. Have a good night!

Hello again, Soul Campaign! This is a second announcement because we didn’t want to bury you with plot-relevant Tl;Dr and give you a second place to make planning and coordinating plotty things easier!

A lot of fighters have already signed up to help with the evacuating and chaos over in South America, but beware! This time even the characters who are staying home will get their fair share of action!

Remember those weird group of masked people who thought that riling up the populace with anti-Shibusen and anti-guests sentiments would be fun before they apparently kidnapped a couple of people for no good reason besides pilfering their things? Those who got away have been lying low for a while now, spying and stalking you guests with the mirrors they stole, waiting for the perfect opportunity to strike and make their own debut that’s going to be even bigger than Black*Star’s! (But before that they had to recover from the terror that is suddenly having Excalibur on their screens. You were not the only ones to suffer from that terrible threat, brave guests of Death City!)

What's going to happen )

Edit: I edited this for clarity and context, please take a look at it even if you read the previous version! - Picaro

Salutations, Soul Campaign! Here's your monthly modpost with what we've got cooked up!

Game-wide Mission!

A while back, a few of the Guest Agents signed up to investigate some strange things that were happening in Central America. They came back with some fragments of metal that, after thorough testing, were found to have traces of Black Blood! Coupled with an intact container that investigators found and brought in for examination, it has been concluded that the fragments came from a container that held a Black Blood compound to poison the water supplies and, in turn, crops and wildlife. The Witches are on the move again.

Those who had been in Death City when the water supply was tainted with Black Blood probably haven't forgotten the chaos it caused and those who hadn't experienced that will get the chance to see it soon enough. Hopefully you've all been training in resisting Madness!

Shibusen has received distress calls from San José in Costa Rica and Tegucigalpa in Honduras, with requests to help evacuate the people of those cities. Madness levels have gone through the roofs and is showing no signs of dying down, rendering the cities uninhabitable. To add to the problem (because we all know when it rains, it pours) the high amounts of Madness have driven many citizens to insanity in both areas; those who consumed the souls of their victims have become Kishin Eggs and are hunting for their next meal...

The mission to San José and Tegucigalpa will take place on May 29th in game, which will fall on this coming Friday the 17th, and mission sign-ups are now available on the Mission Board. Completion of the mission will reward 5 Kishin Egg souls and 5 Meister Points to all pairs who participate. There will also be an announcement from Shibusen soon, so keep your eyes out for that!

New Missions, Deathscythe SOS

The Mission Board has a batch of brand new tasks fresh from the... oven...? You'll find them right here! Take a look at them, and feel free to sign up for whatever adventure tickles your fancy!

Also, a new little feature has been added to the Mission System! Typically, when a pair signs up for a mission, a 20-sided die is rolled. After Meister and Weapon modifiers, a 15 or higher means the mission is a success. But what if the roll comes close, like a 13 or a 14?

That's where Deathscythe SOS comes in! Cloud and Sephiroth, the very first Guest Three-Star Meister and Deathscythe pair, are always on the hunt for malevolent Witches and Kishin Eggs around the world. On any mission dice roll that comes very close to success, agents are given a 50/50 chance that help happens to be in the area, and are asked if they'd like to call an SOS on their communicators. Should they accept, Cloud and Sephiroth will be alerted and will swoop in to turn the tide of battle, changing a near-miss to an automatic success.

This is optional, of course, if for CR reasons or otherwise you would prefer to take the mission failure.

SO TO SUMMARIZE...!

-Mission to two cities in Central America, awarding 5 Kishin Eggs/5 Meister Points! Sign-up is right here, and an IC announcement will be up soon!
-New Missions!
-Cloud and Sephiroth don't mind helping you whup some demon butt if you're in a little pinch!

Feel free to use this post to ask questions and plot amongst yourselves! Have a good one!

Salutations, Soul Campaign! Orange here. Now that the newbie flood is more-or-less over, we just wanted to take a moment to address two things.

1. The Feedback Post

First off: thank you for all your invaluable input! Since shortly after the post went up the mod team has been discussing your feedback and how to best implement it. We're currently wrapping up the last of our discussion and once we're completely finished there will be another mod post telling you what our decisions regarding...well, everything will be.

As you may have already noticed, some of the feedback about the layout have already been implemented (the control strip on the top has been restored and a links list has been added to the crack and ooc communities, now with hover texts). Unfortunately, taking care of all the broken things will continue to be a work in progress but it will (hopefully) get fixed eventually. For now, you can simply view the communities in your style if you are experiencing any problems.

2. Plot Issues

The original plan had been to move into Phase 2 of the Erinyes plot this weekend, since it would give the mod team time to process apps as well as allow new players to participate in the plot. However, due to recent real life events and the nature of the next phase of the plot, we feel it may be a bad time to run it and that having it now might make people uncomfortable. The plot won't be dropped completely, but we'll probably push it back a couple of weeks.

That being said, we do intend to do something before this month is up! Either by using mini-plot as a filler or bump up an event that's supposed to start later to fill in the space. Either way, we just need a bit of time to reorganize things.

Thank you for your continued patience.

Hello everybody!

It’s been a little over a month now since our new mod-team has been formed and become active and a lot of things have happened since then: the backlog of all those things that are needed to keep a game running has been cleared up and optimized, the annoying bug that kept borking the game profile page over and over again faster than you could say “It’s working again!” has been hunted down and taken care of (if you have time, give Orange a big Thank You for that, that thing was nasty!), App cycles and the handling of the intro logs were tinkered with to make them run smooth again and the first phase of a new plot that stars opponents that are neither witches nor kishin eggs has been run! This isn’t the end, though!

We know that there there’s still a lot more that can be done to make the game enjoyable for everyone and this is where we need your help, wonderful players of Soul Campaign!

We want your feedback!

Please take a look at this! )

And greetings again, Soul Campaign! Let's get started!

As Guests are now aware, accompanied by a Death City Times entry, things in the city are getting pear-shaped. Citizens of Death City are refusing to take Shibusen's tab and are either demanding they pay out of pocket or kicking them out, and some have even taken to violence.

Crime's on the rise in the streets, Guest businesses are getting covered in graffiti if not heckled, and even street punks are getting in on the 'fun'. It's been a year in-game since BREW brought in its first Guest, and Death City's not happy with how the place looks right now.

However, things seem a bit odd. The spike in crime is so sudden, so violent, and almost... instigated.

And that's when a few Guests suddenly go missing. On May 10th (a regular day change taking place on March 8th), mysterious figures will abduct a small number of Guests, taking them to an unknown location within the city where their communicators will be stolen. A rescue effort will be coordinated and executed on May 13th (a week-long day change taking place on March 19th).

So who's going missing? Maybe your character! All interested parties have to do is leave a comment to this post. From there, a small number of victims will be randomly selected from the pool and announced on March 1st along with further details on who these kidnappers are and a little on what they'll be up to next.

Have a question? Leave a comment and it'll be answered as soon as possible!

EDIT: After some thought, it was decided that the day change that the kidnapping occurs will actually be a regular day change as opposed to a week-long instance. We apologize for the inconvenience, and have since edited the real-time dates. They will be noted in the follow-up post.
