Important Plot Points
As you may have noticed, strange things are happening on this new day.
The following three days will be packed with much to do, so they will all be lasting a week, each.
As it says there, sensitive people (those able to sense souls or something akin) will be deeply effected by the fog now, especially if they go outside, but EVERYONE will feel it somehow.
The tremors are quake level but they will still knock some things down and make it a little difficult to move about without incident.
If your character has gotten glasses from Teddie, they will be able to see clearly through the fog, and its effects will be lessened.
Now onto the very important part. If your character goes out in the fog, they will see their own Shadow.
For those of your unfamiliar with Persona 4, a Shadow is an essence, a personification of that which a person keeps hidden or tries to deny about themselves. Shadows will be very open about all their feelings regarding other people, themselves, how they view the world. All sense of discretion will be thrown out the window. Shadows are creatures of pure impulse the work only on their own desires, and will no longer accept being held back. Basically they shows your innermost fears and desires and hidden motivations or ambitions you normally keep locked away.
Shadows will remain on the periphery and if your character attempts to follow after them without glasses. Well. Things will not go so well for them.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them here.
For examples of Shadows: Rise
Naoto (starts at 0:54)
Kanji
Important edit: For clarification, the first week/in-game day, Shadows are lurking in the fog. Confrontations will not occur yet, unless your character actively seeks out the shapes moving in their peripheral.

Lavi is outwardly appeasing and generally good to get along with, but inwardly he's deceptive, supposedly cold and indifferent to human tragedies, without bonds to other humans/people, and.... so many other things. He's torn between his duty being a recorder (cold and cut off from emotions) and his duties to his friends.
In Road's dream world he met with a personified version of his "real" duties as a Bookman and brought him face to face with his denial towards his accepting human emotions and the growth of his 'heart'.
How... would that appear as a Shadow? Would it be similar to how his personified duties looked in road's dream land (which some changes obvious to its appearance) or...what?

If not, his Shadow would probably speak more about the frustration he has between his two duties, talk about his deception to others, and if you see it as a possibility his want to break away from being a Bookman.
As far as appearance goes he would like as he does now, with yellow eyes, and perhaps different clothing that is somehow in theme with what his Shadow wants to get out.

Human self, I'd say. Whether it's the one that waits at the Gate, or himself from his childhood, or even both! (flickering between the two or sommat idk), is up to you.

What would happen to a person if s/he accepted what the shadow was saying? Or can we just assume sunshine and flowers with a bit of angsty drizzle?

Hence question: can a shadow be like some kind of horrifying emptiness, like the absence of interior desires and ambitions, not in the sense of inner and outer selves being already squared with each other, but in the sense of revealing that on the inside there's really no there there? Or maybe to put it another way, revealing that on the inside everything is just deadened and empty?
Since this would mean that the pure impulse of the shadow is actually no impulse at all, I'm not sure if it would work for this. (It would also, of course, mean that the shadow doesn't ever talk because as soon as it named itself it would cease to be the kind of absence that I'm imagining it as.) So, erm, what say ye, mods?
