EVENT: Too Much of a Good Thing...

First off: SORRY THIS POST COMES SO LATE. There were some details that needed to be ironed out before this post was made. So, many apologies for that!

Now, without further ado...

On August 22 in-game, BREW brings in a new batch of Guests, for some odd reason, rather late in the evening. It's different, but Shibusen just shrugs and rolls with it, contacting potential tour guides to come and greet the newbies.

However things don't go exactly as planned when one of the newcomers attacks and injures one of the tour guides (and does some property damage in the process). Within the hour, the local authorities, the Watch and the Agency will be contacted informing them of this event. The public will be told of a dangerous individual with four arms as well.

Of course (because when it rains it pours), the Guests will find that they don't have time to chase down this man. Unfortunately, some Witches have been thinking about other ways to deal with Meisters with Soul Perception and they've come up with an idea that one of them will be testing out in Death City around midnight.

It's a machine that amplifies Meister abilities.

While that may sound like something that would actually help, it amplifies them to the point where they become too strong to control.

That means powers will sometimes flare up or may even be working constantly in ways that characters aren't used to them doing. It also means that Meisters will feel drained more often. Beyond that, players are free to decide what that means, exactly, for their character's ability, but here are some examples:

Meisters with abilities that sacrifice resonance to use might find it extremely difficult to resonate as the ability is almost permanently in use or working with such intensity everytime it can burn through even the best resonance in a very short amount of time.

Abilities that grant the Meister extrasensory abilities will find it near impossible to focus with these abilites, probably because they see/hear/sense too many things or because they just can't control what they're sensing only that when they do sense it, they sense it with a freakish kind of clarity.

For abilities that affect the state of others, it might affect them too well. For example someone with Calming Wavelength may find that everyone around them is acting...well. Too calm. Maybe even listless and unworried about potentially being eaten by a Kishin Egg.

Because, of course, the Witches aren't just going to sit around doing nothing. Once the machine is activated, an attack will be launched on the city. There will be Kishin Eggs and also a witch in the fight.

For this event you can choose to fight a Witch. So if you want to do that, remember to fill out the appropriate section when signing up for the mission.

Rewards:
► 7 Meister points / souls (for Meisters and Weapons, respectively.)
► 950D$ per person
► Weapons may choose not to eat their souls, but they cannot be traded amongst each other.
► Sign ups for the missions go here. In order for your characters to receive the rewards, you must at least provide a summary of what happened. If you don't have a planned partner just put N/A.

Feel free to use this post to co-ordinate with each other!

Any questions or concerns you might have should be directed here.

Fear is such a beautiful thing, right? ;D Well Genesis, consider yourself going back through your degradation o/ You can be as creative as you want with it as well - so if it's just the degradation, then it can be focused just on that, but if he fears that and those who can help but won't (for an example) that would also be added into the fray. Diablo will be making it as realistic and horrible for Genesis as possible...

Oh daaaaamn. Watching Sephiroth tell him to go rot again. Or over and over and over again is going to kick him in the feels so hard and just shatter him. More so if it becomes Edgeworth.

Genesis needs kicking in the feels right? ;D He doesn't get enough of that, especially right after they mended their friendship xDD Feel free to do it however you want as well, so it can definitely become Edgeworth if you guys want to explore that! It will be whatever will screw with Genesis the most :D

Apologies for butting in, but since Edgeworth has the unenviable job of snapping Genesis out of his fears...

First, of course, Edgeworth has to deal with his own fears. Those being earthquakes and elevators (AS WE ALL KNOW HAHA). However, he has been steadily working on the latter, taking the elevators for a couple of floors or so or until he begins breaking into a cold sweat and shivering. That's pretty much it. But of course in order to help Genesis, Edgeworth would have to somehow endure all the crazy and remain sane ahahaha

Diablo does not accept apologies! >8( xD

Anywho! You're more than welcome to have Edgeworth be hit by the same Wavelength as well to ensure all the fun times! So as I mentioned before, if he is affected by it, it will be something so horrible and tormenting that it will seriously screw with Edgeworth's mind. So if his two deepest fears are elevators and earthquakes, then Diablo would tap into that and create a scenario that would utilize both of those fears (or whichever one was stronger) and push them in ways where he'll get the best reaction. He doesn't care how it all ends (if Edgeworth snaps himself out of it, crumbles into the nightmare, or if Diablo's attention gets diverted elsewhere). All Diablo cares about is making the torture unique for Edgeworth and watching how 'beautiful' his terrified reaction will be.

So possible scenarios could be that Edgeworth finds himself trapped in an elevator without a way to escape it. The elevator could have a mind of its own and continually take him 'up to the top level' and drop out from beneath him to appear to crash down towards the lower level. Another intensity of that could be him stuck in there, the elevator doing that (or behaving normally) and then a major earthquake hits causing the elevator to malfunction, drop, and then become severely damaged with Edgeworth trapped inside, or another type of scenario you might think of :D

What Edgeworth hates the most about elevators is being stuck in one and not being able to get out so I'm good with that happening because of an earthquake, then there's a pause as he takes in the fact that he's trapped, and then another major earthquake hitting, shaking the elevator to bits. I'm sandwiching the elevator between earthquakes because the elevator is the lesser fear (as of now).

I think as he tries to psych himself up by talking to himself, he could end up using his Meister ability on himself AHAHAHA WHAT since abilities ARE out of control. Or, he could indeed break away from it when he focuses on the fact that Genesis could be in far deeper trouble with the Black Blood and all. Question though - how would a person break Diablo's hold? How strong must he be to resist?

[personal profile] terrorunleashed 2014-03-15 09:36 am (UTC)(link)
That sounds fine to me in regards to what he experiences!

As for how he can break out of it, we could go a number of options: you could have him talk himself out of it. I can easily have Diablo distracted enough by a new shiny or by Genesis so that Edgeworth can get himself out? Generally those who can break Diablo's hold on them have to beat the snot out of him to do so xD If it helps I can have Diablo's attention waver to something else to give Edgeworth a moment to break free?

What if Edgeworth speaks directly to Diablo, would that give ol' Edgey that window of opportunity?

[personal profile] terrorunleashed 2014-03-15 09:24 pm (UTC)(link)
We can play it that way, yes!
