Feedback Post

Hello everybody!

It’s been a little over a month now since our new mod-team has been formed and become active and a lot of things have happened since then: the backlog of all those things that are needed to keep a game running has been cleared up and optimized, the annoying bug that kept borking the game profile page over and over again faster than you could say “It’s working again!” has been hunted down and taken care of (if you have time, give Orange a big Thank You for that, that thing was nasty!), App cycles and the handling of the intro logs were tinkered with to make them run smooth again and the first phase of a new plot that stars opponents that are neither witches nor kishin eggs has been run! This isn’t the end, though!

We know that there there’s still a lot more that can be done to make the game enjoyable for everyone and this is where we need your help, wonderful players of Soul Campaign!

We want your feedback!

We need to know where we and the game are currently standing to make it fun for everyone. To do that we need your feedback! Be it concrit, things you’d like to see more of, things that annoys you, wishes, opinions, questions you have, stuff that has caught your eyes,… Give it to us!

In the following you will find comments with headers about things that we’d like to hear your thoughts on as well as for suggestions for things that could be done in the future. That said, don’t hesitate to make your own threads with headers if you want to talk about something that we forgot to cover too! You want to talk about it, we want to hear it!! We’d also like to ask you to be brutally honest with us (I don’t mean kick your manners to the bucket, but don’t pull any punches just because we are mods either)! We all want to play and have fun here, so it’s just fair that each voice and opinion has the same weight.

Thanks a lot for participating!

Update-Edit: Wow, a REALLY BIG thanks for all the comments that we’ve gotten so far! They’re all very helpful and we are taking them very seriously – with the result that official mod replies will be a little slow as we’re considering all the points you’ve made carefully.

Juu, first of all we owe you an apology for what has happened. We’re still figuring out what went wrong and how to address the concerns you brought up. Please be patient with us.

As a student who never hiatuses (I see RP as an excellent way to remain sane), I love the game's day ratio and pacing. It seems damn perfect to me; it's not so slow that CR can't believably progress in game, but it isn't fast enough to leave busier players in the dust.

Because I play a high-stress character with a lot of people that want him dead, I personally would like to see a little more down time between big plots. SC is a close-knit game (at least I feel that way!) and a lot of the drama is player-driven and full of tension, and it would be good to give those types of slice of life plots time to develop before the ground is shaking and someone is getting dragged off again.

Seriously I love you guys and this game. Seriously. Keep up the good work forever and ever and ever.

In all honesty, I do second these sentiments!

Well, more on being very happy with the fact that the game is at just the right pace for us who are very busy, but still want that very focused, driven game.

I also want a little more downtime for a different reason. The Watch has recently undergone an overhaul. It would be much appreciated to have some time to allow its new leaders and members to get to know each other better.

But I do think that there should still be that little amount of pressure in the air to remind everyone that this is still war. As someone said in another comment, knowing what was happening in other parts of the world could help the war-time feeling along without that need to constantly push for something destructive happening to the city.

Anyway, I know things have been pretty messy as of late ♥ So I'm really happy you guys are doing what you can for the game.

You guys are all absolutely rad, the game is easily one of the most welcoming and easy to settle into I've ever been in and just...

Keep up the good work guys, and thanks for keeping the game going- I appreciate everything you do.

I've really been enjoying the game and I'm glad that you guys are keeping it going!

Personally, I’d like to see a mix of serious and silly since SE canon itself is that way. I feel dark, serious events all the time could be draining without some lighter things to balance things out once in a while and I like having a bit of humor in my threads. I would love to see an Excalibur event again at some point because I think it’s been about a year since the last one. Although something that silly is probably best left for only once or twice a year.

I feel that there should be more events but that’s partly based on how quiet it had been for a few months before the kidnapping plot. (Although that was understandable with most of the old mods leaving and needing to put together a new mod team.) And I think pacing should depend partly on what type of events they were. If they were just things like one day group missions, it might not be too difficult to do something like that monthly but if it’s a big multi-part event spread over a week or two, I wouldn’t really expect something like that more than a couple of times a year.

And I think what Takuto’s player said elsewhere in the post kind of makes sense. It seems relatively easy for players to plan lighthearted events and activities. I remember the big winter festival that happened back when I first joined about a year and a half ago was a player run event. On a much smaller scale, Lily threw a vintage-themed party for her shop’s grand opening. And I know Yami Bakura and Keroro are currently planning a LARP thing. If there are players willing to plan these kinds of things and have them open to everybody, it might be better for the mods to focus on missions and combat related things for now since those are the things players can’t do alone.

Also, about the mix… Looking at the comments posted so far, people seem split between whether the game should be more serious or more silly so there appears to be some dissonance in what people think of the war.

Something I’ve been wondering about myself lately… How bad is this war supposed to be? Sometimes in threads, other characters will mention to Lily that the war has been going on for hundreds of years. But has it actually been hundreds of years of constant fighting? Or is it more of a cold war with occasional flare-ups and the time covered in SC being one of them? I’m more inclined to think the second because the world probably would have been wrecked if it was 800 years of constant fighting between Shibusen and the Witches. And from what I remember, I had the impression that other than routine kishin egg fighting, things had been relatively quiet before Medusa and Arachne started their plots in the anime. And even then the characters still did normal stuff once in a while like play basketball. (Although I might be forgetting something from canon since I only went through the SE anime once and it’s been over a year.) Is the hundreds of years things overblown? Was Kid’s wish to BREW actually a panicked overreaction? The game itself doesn’t seem like it’s intended for nonstop fighting since characters aren’t forced to fight and there are jobs that have nothing to do with fighting available. Plus, even the ones who do go out on missions are limited to one every three days.

Thanks for the explanation and yes, that actually makes a lot of sense! I figured it was more likely to be a cold war for logical reasons like the time for people on both sides to be born and grow up.

Hmm... But I wonder if other players have varying impressions of how the war has gone so far, especially for those who might not be familiar with the SE canon, and if that might be contributing to the conflict in whether the game should be more serious or more lighthearted? I remember there was a summary of the big events in the game written up at some point but I don't think I recall history of the war before the game's start being addressed much in the FAQs. So, it seems possible people might hear about the war lasting for hundreds of years and assume it's a lot worse than what you've just explained.
