Along with the new application, we have some additions to the FAQ that we hope will clarify some issues that have been brought up in the past. You can view them below the cut, and also in the FAQ itself.
If you have any questions, comments, or concerns about these additions/changes, please let us know on the input thread on this entry so we can get back to you as soon as possible!

A general rule of thumb is that an ability will be stripped by BREW if a mortal human (or animal) could not gain it through training. Examples include:

How do I decide whether my character should be a Weapon or a Meister?
Meisters and Weapons have a variety of personalities, but there are certain characteristics that can be found more commonly in each group. A brief overview of these is below.
Meisters tend to be self-sufficient in a fight. Their physical abilities and fitness let them move easily on a battlefield while wielding weapons, and they have a greater chance of being skilled in combat with weapons (or without!) to begin with. In a fight, the Meister is often the one who execute the final motions of battle and decides what direction the combat style will take. (However, the Weapon can also direct the Meister to learn how to wield them more effectively!) Meisters would rather be in the heat of a fight than standing idly by, and enjoy being able to control their own circumstances to suit their strong will and independent personalities. They can usually do well even without a partner, but a Weapon will help bring out their peak combat abilities.
Weapons, on the other hand, are less outgoing in a fight. Though they may have unique powers in their canon that translate well to a Weapon ability, they tend to prefer sitting back and observing things in a fight. Those with experience can provide knowledge and operate as a backseat advisor. They may be able to control themselves and their urges better than most, and in turn be able to refine how they utilize their soul wavelength. Weapons are capable of refining and manipulating their Meister’s soul wavelength, much in the way that an amp can manipulate the notes provided by an electric guitar. Weapons will likely need to take direction from their Meister in battle without question, but they also require the confidence and willpower necessary to achieve their true potential while in their Weapon form.

What kind of abilities can my character keep in Soul Campaign?
- Your character can keep any powers that are within the capabilities of an Olympic athlete, or physical in nature. For instance, super strength would be powered down to the strength of an Olympic-level weightlifter, super speed would be powered down to the strength of an Olympic-level runner, and so forth.
- Characters with wings are able to use them to fly if it is anatomically feasible. Characters with little, cute wings would not be able to use them to lift their entire body, while characters with proportional wings would be able to use them for flight.
- Characters with non-human eyes (cat eyes, etc.) will still be able to use them to see in the dark in the same way that such animals can. In pitch darkness, they will be unable to see, but since their eyes are more receptive to small amounts of light, dimly lit places where humans would normally be blind will be visible for them. More information on the limitations and characteristics of cat eyes can be found here].
What kind of abilities will be lost in Soul Campaign?
A general rule of thumb is that an ability will be stripped by BREW if a mortal human (or animal) could not gain it through training. Examples include:
- Any powers based in magic. This includes any kind of bending (Avatar-style), magework, witchcraft, etc.
- Shapeshifting or physical alteration abilities. This includes things such as healing abilities, regeneration, growing additional appendages, changing forms, etc. Healing can still be slightly accelerated, but not supernaturally fast.
- Anything bestowed by a magical artifact or property in their body. This includes vampire abilities, blood-based abilities, and similar things.
- Any weapons, artifacts, or properties bestowed by said weapons or artifacts.
