Event: The Great BREW Malfunction
Hello, Soul Campaign! Halloween is coming and we have some treats (or should that be tricks?) in store for you! Here is the information for our next event, designed based on ideas suggested by players! This event will take significantly more advance planning than usual so we're posting this early to give players extra time to plot and to give ourselves adequate time to handle the additional mod work.
The first part of this event will be a Meister/Weapon designation swap caused by BREW. Since there have been cases of people being switched before, it might not be obvious something is seriously wrong at first. On the morning of July 14th (October 25th OOC), characters will briefly disappear from Death City, sent home by BREW for a split second and without any canon updating. A few minutes to a few hours later, they will reappear in Death City, changed to the opposite designation. This will last for approximately a week IC. The swap is opt-in but part two of the event will include an extra incentive for those who participate!
For Weapons switching to Meisters, you may choose an ability from the list of existing Meister abilities or propose one of your own. Choices are subject to approval and should be submitted here.
For Meisters switching to Weapons, you should choose a Weapon form and ability. The usual guidelines for Weapon forms and abilities apply, such as all Weapon forms needing to be in one continuous piece. Choices are subject to approval and should be submitted here.
Players are encouraged to be creative and have fun with their choices! Since this is intended to be a light-hearted event and BREW is malfunctioning, it is completely fine to choose Meister abilities and Weapon forms less seriously than you would for a real app! (For example, Morgan LeFlay the pirate hunter might turn into her sword if she were apped normally as a Weapon. But for this event, she might transform into a cannon. Or, even sillier, a glass for a Blood Island Volcano Shot that fills with scalding soul wavelength to be flung at enemies!) It is also fine to choose seriously and as if you were writing a normal app if you wish!
To allow characters to try out combat in their swapped forms, characters are still allowed to sign up for missions during the event. Results will be calculated using their normal modifiers and souls/points will be rewarded for successful missions as usual. Because of the strange situation, Shibusen might ICly advise the new Weapons to hold off on eating any souls and offer to hold them for safekeeping; they'll be given back after the swap ends so the regular Weapons can eat them. (If someone wants to make their Meister turned Weapon temporarily eat one though, we could probably have Kid pull it back out with his shinigami powers.)
After the event, all characters will return to their original designation as Meister or Weapon with all abilities, souls, and Meister points they had prior to the event restored. Possibly with a better understanding and appreciation of what the other does. Or maybe just some funny stories and extra hate for BREW’s shenanigans. But before that happens, there’s part two of the event…
The second part of the event will involve BREW continuing to malfunction and gradually bring in objects and creatures from characters’ canon worlds. This will start slowly on July 16th (November 1st OOC) with small items and get worse over the course of a few days until creatures are running amok all over the city, becoming obstacles, causing mischief and making trouble. Think things like a character’s car blocking the base of the Shibusen stairs, a three-headed monkey stealing all the bananas it can find, a demon taunting people. While some danger can arise out of this, we’re looking more for things that will create chaos rather than a serious life or death battle situation. Characters participating in the Meister/Weapon swap may request two things from their world. Those not participating in the swap may request one.
There are a few restrictions on what can be brought in for this event:
-Nothing with enough personality to be potentially appable as a player character. This is so characters can talk about or encounter creatures from other worlds even if the player isn't canon familiar.
-Nothing that will cause widespread damage. We’d like Death City to still mostly be in one piece after this! BREW can help with this though by weakening monsters. And while creatures characters normally have the ability to summon in canon (Final Fantasy summons, Personas, etc.) can be requested, players should keep in mind that their characters won’t actually be able to summon them here; any such creatures will just be hanging around and doing their own thing.
-Nothing extremely oversized. However, BREW can shrink things such as mecha and giant monsters down to a more manageable size, like the height of an average house. The largest objects and creatures won't show up until near the end of the event.
Requests for things from canon are subject to approval and should be submitted here. Please note that these requests will likely take longer to process because how many things a character can request depends on whether they’re participating in the swap. Therefore, swap requests will have to be handled first. For item/creature requests, feel free to add in your comment if there is a particular place you'd want it to appear!
For reference, lists of everyone’s temporary Meister abilities/Weapon forms will be compiled after approvals and will be posted before the start of the event. A similar list of objects and creatures from canon worlds plus a schedule of when they show up will be created and posted before part two of the event.
Any questions or concerns can be addressed in the Questions thread here. Also, feel free to use this post to coordinate with each other!
ADDENDUM: For item/creature requests, feel free to add in your comment if there is a particular place you'd want it to appear!

Meister ability: Soul Telekinesis: The ability to manipulate inanimate objects by moving them or changing their shape. They need to be in line of sight--even within a few feet, until he gets some practice--and the duration and effectiveness of the manipulation will depend on strength of resonance.
(If this is what Soul Animate does, he can just have that! But they seemed different enough to make a different ability.)

Meister ability: Berserker Soul. When the Meister is in a state of heavy or critical injury, the ability manifests as a massive increase in strength and agility, with a drop in finesse and skill. During resonance, some injuries may also be healed while in this state at the cost of the Weapon's energy. The duration of the berserk state lasts only between 1-3 minutes, with time varying on things such as the Meister's physical state, the presence of enemies, and how practiced the ability is.

Meister ability: Soul Blood Spatter -- In the thick of a fight, while resonating, any blood splattered on him, either from people or kishin eggs, will be instantly absorbed by the Meister and heal him up.
Based off a canon power of Alucard's.

Meister ability: Lego Soul: When attacked, the Meister's soul wavelength creates a barrier, looking very much like a wall built out of small lego pieces, which protects him from both physical and magical/elemental attacks, but not madness wavelength. The more damage the barrier endures, the more cracks will appear on the lego wall, until it shatters completely and leaves him vulnerable to future attacks. The barrier protects both the Meister and the Weapon, and allows him to use his Weapon's abilities even when it's in place.

Meister ability: Infectious Soul - Sephiroth's soul wavelength can infect targets with symptoms similar to Geostigma. Short exposure to Sephiroth's wavelength, while activated, would simply leave targets feeling nauseated at first. Prolonged exposure to the wavelength, such as a long drawn out battles, would begin to result in black marks and oozing black sores appearing on the target's skin while the infection takes root. Those infected with Sephiroth's wavelength would begin to feel lethargic, nauseated, and depending on the physical and mental strength of the target, it could also cause hallucinations and seizures.
The infection would slowly begin to disappear when outside of the range of Sephiroth's wavelength. The severity of the infection depends on the length of time it would take to recover.
