Making a splashy entrance

ladyofthethread and I’m new to Soul Campaign. I mainly cosplay and write the occasional fanfic but haven’t really done RP in years and have only seen about a dozen episodes of Soul Eater so hopefully, this will go okay. ^_^;
I’ll be playing Kou Shuurei from Saiunkoku Monogatari. For those not familiar with the series, it’s set in the country of Saiunkoku which is basically a fantasy version of ancient China. Shuurei dreams of being a government official although the Imperial Exams aren’t open to women and the story follows her as she becomes the first female official in Saiunkoku. Since the series is kind of obscure, I wrote a few pages of history in my application. (Warning: Lots of spoilers!) I recommend checking the series out if you have a chance. The first few episodes and promo artwork make it look misleadingly romance-y but it’s actually much more about Shuurei’s career with a lot of plotting and political intrigue, especially as the series progresses. (I actually didn’t watch beyond the first five episodes myself until a friend told me it gets much better later on.) The supernatural elements also become more prominent as it goes on.
I’m taking Shuurei from near the end of season 2 of the anime. At this point, she’s a Censorate official and has been sent to Ran Province on a mission to find the Emperor, who traveled there incognito, and bring him safely back to the capital. (The Censorate deals mainly with investigating corruption and wrongdoing but also handles some other matters.)A certain eccentric with a flute >_> Ryuuren thought that taking a shortcut over a waterfall was a good idea so she’ll be showing up very damp!
Personality-wise, Shuurei is hardworking and determined, persevering even though many in the Imperial Court oppose her being an official since she’s a woman. She’s idealistic and believes that government officials should help the common people and use their power to do the things that ordinary citizens can’t accomplish on their own. She’s very intelligent and passed the week-long Imperial Exams with the third highest score. However, she is rather naïve and tends to think the best of people so she can be too trusting and bad at sensing danger. And despite the more serious parts of her personality, she’s also kind and friendly. She even took in and fed a scruffy, suspicious looking guy who collapsed outside her house so if you become friends with her, she’ll probably make tea and steamed buns or cook dinner for you at some point!
She’s a Meister with the Soul Bandaid ability but it’ll probably take her forever to figure it out IC because she doesn’t know in canon that her mother…
was the Rose Princess with the power to heal any injury and cure any illness. Or that Shoukun was also the Red Immortal, one of the eight immortals who aided the first Emperor when he defeated the demons that roamed the land and founded the country of Saiunkoku. She lost her powers after falling in love with a human but retained the ability to make one wish come true at the cost of her life and sealed herself inside Shuurei to make her healthy and prolong her life.
Shuurei seems to be able to use the Red Immortal’s healing powers but it never triggers until a couple of light novels beyond the end of the anime. And even then, she didn’t consciously do it and was knocked out for three days afterwards. >_>;

I don't know your canons either other than what I remember your characters posting recently. ^_^; Hmm... Well, one of Shuurei's part-time jobs before she became an official was doing the accounting at the number one brothel in the red light district. And she considers Kochou the number one courtesan there like a big sister. (Sometimes, I really have to wonder how she can still be so naive after working in the red light district for years! XD;)

For the username, I was originally trying to think of something that referenced Shuurei being an official but never could come up with something satisfactory within the character limit. So, I ended up with flowering tea instead.

Yes, there certainly are a few tea lovers around, aren’t there? I wanted a Shuurei with tea icon but sadly, couldn't really find a good screencap that would work.
Some people don’t seem to like the second season much but I personally think it’s more interesting in terms of the plotlines. I wish it had also been licensed so I could own it on DVD.

And I encourage you to give Saiunkoku a try. Unfortunately, the first season seems to be out of print now so it might take a little work to find it; a friend mentioned it was available through Netflix if you have that. The second season wasn't licensed but there are fansubs around if you search.

I actually want Shuurei to meet Roy sometime since I think she’d be a good clerk for the Watch with her background! Other than investigating stuff for the Censorate, she’s used to piles of paperwork, had a part-time job doing accounting before being an official, and is used to cleaning, too. :-D She doesn't know how to fight though so she'll need to find out IC first that office help is also needed.

And you should finish Saiunkoku! I think the later parts are more interesting. :-D I went over a lot of stuff when writing the app (never really done one before and wanted to be thorough) and found some stuff I'd forgotten about like Shuurei being able to use the healing powers since it only happened in one of the later novels.
Could you please edit my comment tag in the main community? I haven't started posting there yet but I noticed another character's name stuck to mine so it says "c: kou shuurei hijikata toshirou" although the normal tag is correct. Thanks!
