DGM CAST PLOTTING

So, since we're hardly ever all on AIM at the same time or anything, and we could use some cast plotting...here is the D.Gray-man OOC plotting post!

This isn't necessarily for anything specific. Basically, it's just for a place to throw out ideas, suggestions, whatever. Anything that involves several or all of the DGM guys!

(Also, while this is for the DGM guys, that doesn't mean that people playing other characters can't chime in! If you've got a char who you'd like to get involved with the DGM cast, feel free to comment here!)

I'd really like to see more interaction between her and Kanda--the two of them do have a unique relationship and history in canon that allows her to get away with things he'd let virtually no one else (except maybe Marie) get away with (a la clipboard to the head).

Also, Ghost and I were just saying how, as of now, no one (and none of the other Order members) know what happened to Kanda and Heine in the Adachi battle or what they tried to do. We'd like to see that chance, so Ghost is planning to have Allen post asking if anyone has seen or heard from Kanda, and then hopefully the news will get out.

Do you think Lenalee might want to come and visit Kanda while he's recovering? At the moment, I think he's still unconscious, and I know that he's at Stein's rather than at one of the clinics, so it might take more doing for her to get in to see him, but given how tough and persistent she is, I'm sure she could manage. Also, since Heine is basically sticking by Kanda's side like a guard dog at the moment, Lenalee might be one of the few people who could get past that obstacle too, if you were interested. (And also, after Kanda wakes up, she might be the only person who could force convince him to go to this upcoming ball--he's going to be VERY resistant to that.)

If definitely sounds like it could be interesting and fun to work on! I'm sure Lenalee would love the chance to have a stern talking-to with Kanda, especially after their last conversation turned pretty sour.

We've had some big shake ups regarding character's attitudes to the Order while in game. Mostly regarding Kanda's Shadow, but Lavi's Bookman role has created some suspicious in the non-DGM guys too. I know Miranda is now seriously doubting the order as of now and helloooooo future awkward conversations with Kanda!

So. Anyone have some ideas as to where to go with this?

So, I am only going to able to really ramble on this point from Allen's POV, but I can say that from recentish canon events (i.e, Allen's trial for heresy, Cross' "death"/disappearance, etc.) that Allen's faith was already a bit shaken. Not broken or lost, just not so blindly trusting.

The experience of seeing Kanda's Shadow has, honestly, thrown him into turmoil as far as what to think about the Order goes. Personally I can see him steadily becoming far more cynical and unsure about the way the Order is claiming to handle things and how it deals out authority to its members in a way that has to this point been expecting total loyalty by virtue of the fact that they--the authority figures of the Order--say so.

The suffering that the Order has apparently put Kanda through was horrific enough information to make Allen very uncomfortable about stating what he actually thinks about the Order confidently and I think any conversations that lean toward discussion or mention of the Order back home, for Allen at least, may result in some tension.

And for me? I kind of love how very little in DGM canon is black or white exclusively and how it feels like we, as readers, really are supposed to question the sides in this war. I also love knowing that other players in this cast (And have I mentioned my adoration for you guys lately? ♥) are playing through these ideas, doubts and dilemmas ICly too.

I think seeing some tensions forming in the group would be fabulous--I'm very curious to hear other opinions here *_*

Also: should and will the Order consider any or all of the partners as "part" of the Order? I know Miranda has already told Winry quite a bit about them, and I believe Heine knows a bit too.

I don't... really think they should be considered part of the Order? Because no matter how much they may know about it or how close they may become to the members of it, they've still not experienced it and what it's like to be part of that battle.

Sadly, I can't really have Allen and Heine interact in game because... I think self-cesting would be a little odd both for me to play out but also for people to watch, but I can certainly find ways around that if there were to be a group meet, for example.

I imagine this could either be done in the context of the up-coming ball, or if we felt that would be trying to load too much into the event we could plan a separate meet-and-greet log type thing for a later date somewhere? Idk~ \o_o/

I'm sad that Heine and Allen will never get to have CR since Ghost plays both of them, but I would love to see Heine interact with other Order members more.

For anyone who knows Kanda (as the other Exorcists of course do), I think that his relationship with Heine would likely look quite amazing/exceptional because he's certainly never been like this with another person that any of them will have seen before. For purely selfish reasons I'd just love to find out more about everyone else's reactions to this partner who Kanda appears so bizarrely committed to.

I think Winry already has a good CR base with several of the other DGM characters, so the next big thing there is going to be actually finding out about her partnership with Miranda when it happens.

As far as Mulan goes...does anyone even know that she's Lavi's partner? It was being kept really hush hush for a while there. Are there plans to let the cat out of the bag?

Personally, my reading of the Order and the issue of "membership" in it is kind of twofold-- For one, I've never taken the Order itself to be all that secret as far as the fact of its existence goes. (It's named quite freely to non-members early on in the series, after all. It's more that the particulars of it are very mysterious to most laypeople.) So yeah Kanda's told Heine quite a lot about it, yes.

But I don't see that as constituting making Heine or other new people a "part" of the Order because there is no authority-voice representative of it (or of the Church, really) present in Death City. The Order is present insofar as the Exorcists are present, but as a structured organization with any kind of an induction process, not really. I'm not sure if any of the individual Exorcists here would try to claim the authority of declaring anyone a "part" of the Order. (Kanda certainly would not, at least. As far as he's concerned, Heine is his partner and that's not up to the Order--or Shibusen for that matter--to endorse or administer.)
