4th Walling Permission
orz yes I know I've already done both an OOC and IC intro post for Aladdin but I just realised that I forgot to give canon puncturing permission for him.
Well, it's kinda canon puncturing. Since the original story from 1001 Nights is pretty darn well known, there's a good chance people know of it. So, if your character would know this story, they are definitely allowed to go "holy crap it's Aladdin", ask him where his genie is, or indeed many any and all references to the story. Seriously, anything goes.
The only thing I ask is that no one canon-punctures the Disney version of Aladdin. The legend and other versions are fine, but no going on about Robin Williams being the Genie or that flying carpet please.
(This DOES mean that you might want to be careful you're not accidentally referring Disney-only things, though, since it's the version most people know. There's info on the original story on Wikipedia, and there are notable differences. Like Aladdin apparently being Chinese, despite that fact that's he's, you know, called 'Aladdin'. And there being two Genies. And the Princess having the really long name of 'Badroulbadour'. So yeah, check before you go and refer to "Princess Jasmine", alright? XD)

Either way, it's got a muddled history, like any very old tale I suppose. Which actually helps in terms of playing Aladdin, actually - other characters could easily reason that the differences between the story they know and what they hear from Aladdin is because of the story getting muddled through time.

he will just be finding out how much he can exploit that.I thinking that the best place for it would actually be specific events - you know, we need to get this from from witches, hey - Aladdin can do it! That sort of thing. Course, seeing as I have no idea what plots we'll have in the future, who knows how that will go XD
