Phase 1 Mod Post!

Hello, Soul Campaign!

So you'd gotten a bit of information aboput the July plot from the previous post. Our, ah, lucky candidates have been chosen, so now it's time to fill you in on Phase 1 of this plot.

General Overview of Phase 1:
Recently in the area surrounding San Martín de los Andes, Isla del Sol and San Pedro de Atacama, there have been reports of large, bird-like creatures attack and consuming humans. A request was sent out to Shibusen to deal with this threat and as a result 9 pairs of partners will leave Death City for these cities...and they won't be coming back (for now).

The characters will leave over a three day period.

On the first day, one pair will leave for each city respectively.

On the second day, the same happens. Except the first batch of mission goers who were supposed to be back are nowhere to be found...

On the third day, all pairs who left on Day 1 are declared MIA with the ones who left on Day 2 suspected to be missing. Everyone leaving for these three locations are followed by Shibusen personel.

No one returns from those missions and on the fourth day, more Shibusen personel are sent out to investigate. All the while, there are rumours of strange individuals rampaging through these three areas.

Finally the city will get some news, but it won't be pretty...

The following people will be leaving on the following days:

DAY 1: June 10th in-game DAY 2: June 11th in-game DAY 3: June 12th in-game
San Martín de los Andes (Argentina) Sendo Takeshi and Saya Takagi Tony Stark and Bruce Banner Atem and Eren Jaeger
Isla del Sol (Bolivia) Judai Yuki and Johan Andersen Six and Dr. Rebecca Holiday Meenah Peixes and The Psiioniic
San Pedro de Atacama (Chile) Minako Arisato Josuke Higashikata X (Sai) and Hades Akiha Tohno and Sion Eltnam Atlasia

And if that's confusing, here's a calendar with all the events written down.

Everyone who has been chosen must respond to this thread.

So...what happened to our characters?
The characters who left on the missions were attacked by Witches. The bird-like Kishin Eggs were not Kishin Eggs at all, but Witch familiars. They aren't aiming to kill the mission goers (except the nameless NPCs sent by Shibusen to accompany everyone on day 3). That doesn't mean they aren't above breaking a few limbs however, should they meet resistance. They only need you alive, after all, to run some quick tests, to see what kind of interesting powers BREW has brought into this world. But creating a large amount of Madness Wavelength similar to the kind let off by the Kishin is not easy task.

So they don't try. Instead, they will put a chip in the characters, just under the skin. It works as a small, localized Madness Emitter. Instead of just emitting large amounts of Madness it also compresses it so that it becomes more potent. They will up the amount of Madness until your character shows some sign of having special abilities which they will study. If you don't have powers...well. Sucks to be you, they won't believe you and just keep upping the Madness until they can't any more.

Once they're done taking all the data, the Witches will leave their victims in the wilderness. They have no use for all of you now. But hey, at least they left the chip inside you as a little parting gift!

There will be a log for all those who are attacked to play out their Witch encounter in!

As usual, any questions or concerns can be addressed in the thread below.

As per Six and Holiday's canon, they always have the possibility of their nanites activating and turning them EVO and Six's nanites have been trying to do that for some time now, but BREW doesn't allow it.

Is the going EVO thing included under this "powers" category or no? Or is it whatever we plan to make of it?

Character: Judai Yuki
Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX
List and details of powers returning: Overwhelming presence of intimidation - basically he exudes fear.
Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): The powers come from Judai's past life, the Supreme King. I believe those powers come from the Gentle Darkness, which is a force of good to be reckoned with in GX.

Character: Johan Andersen
Series: Yu-Gi-Oh! GX

Johan's only unusual trait is the ability to see spirits attached to certain cards from his world, so even if he were to regain that, it would basically mean bunk and manifest in no way whatsoever, haha.

Character: Sion Eltnam Atlasia
Series: Tsukihime/Melty Blood
List and details of powers returning: Increased speed, strength, and regeneration from wounds. Just the bare basics of her vampire abilities since anything else would start pushing into OP territory. Along with that and helped by the madness emitters is her insanity and bloodlust.
Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): She's part vampire and when it comes back, she won't be able to prevent that transformation thanks to the madness emitters.

Will those captured know they have a chip implanted in them and where would it be placed?

Character: Akiha Tohno
Series: Tsukihime/Melty Blood
List and details of powers returning: Increased strength, increased speed and unbelievable stamina, high resistance to mind-manipulation abilities, Caging Hair demon ability.

Caging Hair: Akiha’s specific ability is called the Caging Hair. She is capable of instantly stealing/plundering the heat/energy of any target she can see. This typically results in the target getting lit on fire as she takes the heat away from her target that the surrounding air is too hot, hence producing flame.

Against those without any spiritual defense, this effect is immediate and extremely deadly. Against those with special defenses, the effect isn’t instantaneous and takes time to draw the heat out. As long as she focuses her ability on the target, the heat will continue to drain until the target’s body combusts. Against extreme supernatural beings, she cannot do any serious harm unless her power is boosted from an outside source, but then the most she can do is restrain them for a period of time. She is even capable of absorbing someone's complete concept into herself if she tries hard enough.

Considering the extreme power level of Caging Hair, Akiha will not have the full scope of her demon ability returned to her. Everyone will be treated as if they have special defenses of some sort, so no instantaneous effects and witches will be treated as extreme supernatural beings. Also, her Caging Hair power is line of sight only.

Because of the madness emitter chips and Akiha's own exposure to madness, with it being cranked up as high as it is, she will undergo inversion. What that means is her demon blood will take control of her and her personality will alter to that of a bloodthirsty, horrible demon that takes pure joy in slaughter. She's not a mindless beast given her willpower level, but she'll exhibit a disturbing controlled insanity.

Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): Akiha is half-demon. Her power comes completely from her demon blood which BREW has managed to suppress save for her bloodthirst which she has been mostly managing to keep under control. When her demon blood is active, Akiha's hair can freely change between black and crimson in color. When she uses her demon power, it is always crimson in color.

Character:Atem
Series:Yu-Gi-Oh!
List and details of powers returning: Atem can summon duel spirits which doesn't do him a hell of a lot of good considering he does not possess a source for said spirits (also known as a deck) so he will be limited to summoning his own ka (also a duel spirit). In particular this ka is a fat chicken. Fat chicken comes in other forms. But mostly he'll just look like a fat chicken although big enough that he can still be ridden if possible because apparently that is a thing that should happen.

Atem does have a secondary set of powers that only works if he manages to get his hands on the millennium puzzle but I figured I'd mention it. With the puzzle he has the ability to engage in shadow games which in and of itself doesn't mean much. However, anyone that loses a shadow game has to play a penalty game which usually manifest in the form of some kind of hallucination. Honestly anyone experiencing it would probably find it feels pretty similar to madness itself. This could be limited to low levels that are more unsettling and disturbing than fully crippling hallucinations. Since that's conditional though, it's fine if it needs to be nixed.

Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): Everyone in YGO verse has a card game soul. In ancient Egypt they knew magic to summon it idk. Puzzle powers come from the dead souls of everything Yami Bakura knew and loved 8D;

I also understand that YGO is hella confusing when it comes to this stuff. I didn't want to tl;dr even worse but if there are any questions I'd be happy to answer them.
ironyman: (fuck yeah i'm iron man)

[personal profile] ironyman 2013-06-27 04:50 am (UTC)(link)
Character: Tony Stark
Series: Marvel Cinematic Universe

No powers. BUT he will be wearing the Iron Man suit he's managed to piece together because he's an idiot who doesn't realize it will do jack shit against a kishin egg/witch familiar and probably get damaged/crumpled. Will the witches take the time to pry stupidly complicated suit off of him ? AND if so, will they be interested in the blue glowy arc reactor embedded in his chest?

Character: Josuke Higashikata
Series: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure
List and details of powers returning: The ability to use his Stand Crazy Diamond. He can consciously summon it, but it's only visible while he uses his powers to anyone else who has a Stand (it would probably also be visible for people who are normally able to see spiritual/supernatural stuff in general). His ability to repair things won't come back since not all of his powers return, but Crazy Diamond's great physical strength will be added on top of Josuke's own when he uses it.
Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): The Stand itself is just an image created by energy as a manifestation of its power, but the very nature of a stand lies in the fact that it's some sort of reflection of the wielder's spirit and manifest themselves from said wielder's inner psyche. (I suck at explaining it so if it still isn't clear there's more here..)

Character: Minako Arisato
Series: Persona 3
List and details of powers returning: The ability to summon Personas. While Minako can normally have around ten at once, the limitations from the chip will allow her to summon only two. Her Personas can grant her abilities like using elemental, buffing, de-buffing, and healing magic along with heightened strength and defense; however, they can also give weaknesses to certain elements or attack types. Due to the limitations, she'll only be able to use lightning and healing magic along with special physical attacks; however, she'll also become weak to dark magic. Her strength and defense will also increase. (If this is too much, I'd be happy to change it!)
Where do their powers come from (if it can be explained): Minako's powers come from what's described as the sea of her soul, or her psyche in other words. Essentially, they're manifestations of her inner thoughts and identity. Due to having the Wild Card potential, she can switch between Personas, something not many people can do even if they have a Persona of their own. (More information can be found here.)

Yeah! Um... I think the best way to describe it is as a sort of celestial force that opposes what is known as the Light of Destruction. It ties into the Duel Monsters world directly and both the Gentle Darkness and the Light of Destruction are what creates the ability for Duel Monsters to exist on their own planes. Unfortunately, there are parts of the Gentle Darkness that have been warped, and the Supreme King is one of them. He uses the powers he has to try and conquer a kingdom that is technically already his.

....YEAH, I hope that makes sense. XD;

No. Yuugi keeps the puzzle so he would only get it if they cross paths somewhere down the line.
