Additionally, I think that it's unfair to reject players based on the history section, when some people can simply link to a history for their characters, and others may have to write theirs out due to the canon being more obscure.

This is a concern I have as well. In addition to the fact that an app could get rejected if a link is not 'substantial enough.' What that means is really vague and could vary wildly depending on the character--I very much doubt the link I used for Souji's app, for example, would have been deemed at all adequate if his canon had been Bleach.
